How I built a dynamic media platform that amplifies African voices in global health, policy, and data storytelling.
See live site ↗ See live site ↗Global Health Otherwise needed a dedicated home for their growing media and storytelling arm, a place to publish articles, podcasts, and research-driven stories that highlight African leadership in global health. But the vision came with a few challenges:
The team needed a separate platform without losing the visual identity of the main brand.
The website had to handle multimedia content such as podcasts, videos, and interactive reports.
The timeline was tight, with a launch deadline tied to editorial milestones.
The structure needed to be flexible enough for future growth while staying clean and easy to navigate.
Before building, I worked closely with the editorial and strategy team to understand their workflow and audience goals. The mission was clear: create a content-first platform that combines storytelling, journalism, and data insights in a simple and engaging way.
Designed a media-focused WordPress website tailored for articles, podcasts, and data visuals.
Created category-specific layouts for news, features, and thought leadership pieces.
Ensured consistency with the parent brand while giving the platform its own voice and style.
Optimized for mobile, SEO, and performance so stories load fast and reach wider audiences.

Created a clean, editorial interface with modern typography and strong visual hierarchy. Used the Global Health Otherwise color palette to maintain brand continuity. Prototyped flexible templates to handle diverse content formats effortlessly.
Development & Implementation
Developed the site using WordPress with a focus on content scalability and ease of use. Integrated podcast and video support directly into article templates. Set up SEO tools, analytics, and caching systems for optimal visibility and performance. Currently manage and maintain the platform, ensuring it stays secure, updated, and aligned with evolving editorial needs.
